Adjusters in Louisiana Must Earn Their Insurance CE Credits

After the devastating losses suffered during hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the legislature in Louisiana proposed a set of requirements for licensing insurance adjusters in their state. Before that time, other insurance professionals were required to hold licenses but adjusters were not. The legislature recognized the importance of qualified adjusters in the insurance process, and with Acts 783 (which covered claims adjusters) and 806 (covering public adjusters) they put into place a schedule of regulatory requirements including mandatory Continuing Education (or CE).

Claims adjusters are employed by insurers, while public adjusters are hired by claimants or other insured parties. As of June 30, 2007, both types of adjusters were required by law in Louisiana to obtain a license. In order to maintain that license, these adjusters must successfully complete 24 CE credits before their renewal date. CEU.com offers 20 courses approved by the state of Louisiana to help adjusters get the credits they need in the most efficient way possible.
